New collective agreement between the Swedish Forest Industries Federation and the Swedish Paper Workers Union

The Swedish Forest Industries Federation and the Swedish Paper Workers Union have agreed on new pay increases 17th December.

– The new agreement period of 14 months brings an increase of 3.0 per cent in wages, says Per Hidesten, Deputy Director General, Director of Negotiations, Head of Social Affairs Dep.

This agreement is the first within the co-ordination of LO, the central organization for 14 affiliates which organize workers within both the private and the public sectors.

– Obviously this will be the guiding principal for the forthcoming negotiations in Sweden. It is a precedent, emphasizes Per Hidesten.

The parties have also agreed on appointing working groups which will review models for wages, pensions and time limited employments.

The period of the agreement is 1.2.2012 – 31.3.2013

The Swedish Paper Workers Union, Pappers, organizes all blue-collar workers within the Pulp and Paper Industry. The number of members is 17 000 and employed in the industry is about 15 000.
